Woman loses five-sovereign gold jewellery to impostor at Tiruvallur GH

Woman loses five-sovereign gold jewellery to impostor at Tiruvallur GH

Posted on September 8, 2026 By admin

A 70-year-old woman was allegedly duped of five sovereigns of gold jewellery by a man posing as a hospital employee at the Tiruvallur Government Hospital on Monday.

Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspect.

When the woman, Poongodi, was waiting near the MRI scanning room, a man approached her and spoke to her as though he worked at the hospital.

He told her that patients were not permitted to wear jewellery during scanning and asked her to remove it. He left with the jewellery she handed over.

When she realised later that she had been duped, Poongodi lodged a complaint with the Tiruvallur Town police.
