Four artistes were honoured at the inauguration of the 39th Sangeetha Vidwath Sadas here on Friday.
In the event organised by Sri Sadguru Gnanananda Sangeeth Sammelan and Narada Gana Sabha Trust, the title ‘Sangeetha Sreshta’ was conferred on carnatic musician R.K. Padmanabha and ‘Sangeetha Mani’ on three artistes — ghatam exponent Trichy Sri K.R. Kumar, violin exponent Kalyani Shankar, and mridangam exponent M. Vasudeva Rao respectively.
Veteran musician Trichur V. Ramachandran said that these days, it was important to sing the Namasankeerthanam, adding thathe remembered singing in the sammelanam several years ago.
Mr. Padmanabha said this was the 127th title he had received and such awards further increased the responsibility on artistes. They have to put in more effort and work harder going forward, he added.
Mr. Kumar, Mr. Rao, Ms. Shankar, and Srimushnam V. Raja Rao, convenor of Sri Sadguru Gnanananda Sangeeth Sammelan, also spoke on the occasion.
