Seized ganja and banned tobacco products destroyed

A total of 576 kg of ganja seized in Dindigul district and 724 kg of ganja seized in Theni district were destroyed by police on Tuesday. A total of 1,300 kg of ganja seized in 356 cases were destroyed.

According to a press release, a total of 576 kg of ganja seized in a total of 195 cases in Dindigul district and 724 kg of ganja seized in a total of 161 cases in Theni district were destroyed.

In 2026 alone, in Dindigul district, a total of 1,067 kg of ganja seized in 238 cases were destroyed. In Theni district, a total of 1,159 kg of ganja seized in 210 cases were destroyed. A total of 72 vehicles in Dindigul district and 157 vehicles in Theni district used in the offences were confiscated and auctioned.

Similarly, a total of 7,900 kg of banned tobacco products seized in 353 cases in Dindigul district and 10,718 kg of banned tobacco products seized in 361 cases in Theni district have been destroyed so far.

It was destroyed in the presence of the Drug Disposal Committee headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police (Dindigul range) V. Sasi Mohan and police officials from the two districts.
