G. Sathiyan and Sreeja Akula will spearhead the Indian table tennis team’s campaign in the men’s and women’s sections respectively of the Asian Games, to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 20 to 28.

In a release on Thursday, the Table Tennis Federation of India said the team has been primarily selected based on World and National rankings.

As reserves in men’s section, Ankur Bhattacharjee and Ronit Bhanja will remain on standby. Swastika Ghosh and Manika Batra have been named reserves in women’s category.

The team: Men: G. Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, Payas Jain.

Women: Sreeja Akula, Yashaswini Ghorpade, Diya Chitale, Sutirtha Mukherjee, Syndrela Das.
