JPC on Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill calls for views on bill from stakeholders

Posted on June 9, 2026 By admin

The Joint Committee examining the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 informed Tuesday that it is calling for views, suggestions on specific clauses of the Bill from experts and industry stakeholders, among others.

The committee headed by member of the Lok Sabha, Sudheer Gupta, would be soliciting comments until June 22.

The proposed legislation, which seeks to amend the Companies Act (2013) and the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Act, 2008, was introduced March 27 this year and immediately referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed examination.

It seeks to facilitate ease of doing business and address the gaps identified by the Company Laws committee in their 2022 report.

The proposed amendments are expected to rationalise penalties, impose monetary penalties on minor procedural lapses than categorising them as criminal liabilities, and streamlining varied regulatory processes.
