Contract employee suspended over bribe demand for Aadhaar address verification at Erode GH

Contract employee suspended over bribe demand for Aadhaar address verification at Erode GH

Posted on May 22, 2026 By admin

A contract employee at the Government District Headquarters Hospital, who allegedly demanded money for obtaining a government doctor’s signature for Aadhaar address change documents, was placed under suspension here on Thursday (May 21, 2026).

A video purportedly showed a young woman approaching a staff member on the hospital premises seeking a signature for Aadhaar address change forms. During the process, she enquired about the procedure, following which the contract employee reportedly demanded ₹300 per form.

When the woman later asked about charges for three persons, the employee allegedly sought ₹900. Unwilling to pay the money, the woman secretly recorded her interaction with the employee on her mobile phone. In the video, she is heard questioning the collection of money in a government hospital. The employee allegedly replies that the charge was “₹300 per signature per person” and claims that the money was meant for the doctor. The video subsequently went viral on social media platforms.

Hospital sources said that government hospitals do not collect money for signatures. The employee was identified as Srinivasan. Authorities said the matter was taken up with the private company that had employed him, following which he was placed under suspension.

Sources said many doctors were reluctant to sign Aadhaar address verification forms as they could not independently verify whether applicants actually resided at the addresses mentioned. Medical associations had also reportedly advised doctors to avoid signing such documents except in cases related to health certificates. Government hospitals issue physical fitness and medical certificates to government employees and members of the public after conducting the required examinations.
