“Was Punished For…”: Sanju Samson Recalls Unheard Tale Ahead Of RR’s Game vs RCB

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson took a trip down the memory lane, recalling his school days while growing up Delhi and Kerala. Samson, who was born in Thiruvananthapuram, spent most of his childhood in Delhi and studied at Rosary Senior Secondary School in Mukherjee Nagar. However, he moved back to Kerala after his father took voluntary retirement from the Delhi police force.  Speaking to Star Sports, Samson shared an interesting anecdote of how he transformed from a troublemaker to a studious kid.

“I’ve done my schooling both in Delhi and Kerala. I was very naughty in Delhi, but I became disciplined when I came to Kerala because the school’s principal was my father’s friend. So I acted like a studious person,” said Samson.

Samson also shed light on how he was once punished for shouting in excitement.

“Once, I went to the vice-principal and asked if we can have a PT period on our free period. The teacher gave us permission. I became so excited that I went shouting across the corridors. My classmates enjoyed the free period, but I was punished for shouting,” he said.

“I used to go to the church with my family on Sunday morning. Then my mom would cook something special on Sundays. I used to help her by finishing what she made,” Samson added.

Meanwhile, Samson is currently leading RR in the ongoing season of IPL.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl against Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match here at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday.

RR heads into the game on the back of a victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) while RCB suffered a defeat to Lucknow Super Giants in its previous match.

With one victory in four matches, RCB are currently in the 8th position in the 10-team table which fairly indicates their troubles while Rajasthan’s all-win record so far placed them on the second spot with six points.
