Telco Trims Net Loss, ARPU Rises 3%

Posted on January 27, 2026 By admin

Vodafone Idea Ltd. on Tuesday posted a net loss of Rs 5,286 crore for the quarter ended December 2025, which was marginally narrower as compared to 5,524 crore in the preceding quarter.

The telecom firm’s revenue saw a modest uptick of 1.1% to Rs 11,323 crore, as against Rs 11,195 crore in the three months ended September. The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation went up 2.8% sequentially to Rs 4,817 crore.

The average revenue per user, which is a key metric to assess a telco’s health, rose over 3% to Rs 186. In the previous quarter, it stood at Rs 180.

  • Revenue up 1.1% at Rs 11,323 crore vs Rs 11,195 crore
  • Ebitda 2.8% at Rs 4,817 crore vs Rs 4,685 crore
  • Margin at 42.5% vs 41.8%
  • ARPU at Rs 186 vs Rs 180

Vodafone Idea, in a release, said its total subscriber base stood at 192.9 million at the end of the third quarter. “We closed the quarter with 128.5 million 4G/5G subscribers, up from 126 million in the same period last year,” it said.

This quarter marked an important inflection point for the company with positive resolution of key legacy issues, Vodafone Idea Chief Executive Officer Abhijit Kishore said, as he referred to the Centre’s relief on pending AGR dues. “We are thankful to the Government for offering a definitive, long-term and conclusive solution on the AGR matter. We also concluded the settlement of CLAM receivable of Rs 6,394 crore with the Vodafone Group,” he said.

“One of the key milestones for the quarter was the successful NCD raise of Rs. 3,300 Crore, despite an AGR overhang; a clear reflection of lender confidence on our ability to improve the business performance. Collectively, these developments have strengthened the trajectory of our debt discussions which will enable us to execute our larger capex plan to strengthen the network and further elevate the customer experience. On the operational side, our market initiatives translated into deeper customer engagement with ARPU and data consumption improving sequentially,” the CEO added.

Before the quarterly results were declared, shares of Vodafone Idea closed 0.4% lower at Rs 9.83 apiece on the NSE, compared to a 0.51% rise in the benchmark Nifty.
