The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm forecast for 11 Telangana districts for Wednesday (August 19, 2026).

According to IMDs latest bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpalpally and Mulugu districts.

Hyderabad city and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see a partly cloudy sky. “Light rain to drizzle is very likely to occur in parts of the city towards evening or night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32C and 24 C respectively,” the bulletin said.

A bright and sunny day gave way to dark skies and rain in several parts of Hyderabad on Wednesday (August 5, 2026), as clouds gathered during the afternoon following a largely clear start to the day.

After 3 p.m., rain was reported from several areas, including Nacharam, Mallapur, ECIL and A.S. Rao Nagar, among other parts of the city.

According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 4 p.m., Chintal recorded 9.8 mm rainfall followed by 9.3 mm in Allwyn Colony, 8.5 mm in Anandbagh, 7.8 mm in Malkajgiri, 7 mm in Nacharam, 6.8 mm in Ghatkesar, 6.5 mm in Tarnaka and 6.3 mm in Uppal.

For the second consecutive day, several parts of Hyderabad witnessed rain on Tuesday with evening showers leading to waterlogging at a few locations and slow-moving traffic at several key junctions across the city. The rainfall followed a widespread overnight spell that had drenched Hyderabad between July 20 evening and the early hours of July 21, bringing down temperatures and providing relief from the prevailing warm and humid conditions.

On Tuesday, rain commenced around 5 p.m. and continued until nearly 8 p.m., affecting several parts of the city, including Necklace Road, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, Mettuguda, Tarnaka, Mehdipatnam, Golconda and surrounding localities.

Heavy rainfall was recorded in many Telangana districts. According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, Nandigama in Rangareddy recorded the highest rainfall of 57.5 mm followed by 32.5 in Nagupalle (Bhadradri Kothagudem), 28.8 mm in Andugulapet (Mancherial), 26.5 mm in Sonala (Adilabad), 23.5 mm in Ghattu (Jogulamba Gadwal), 22.8 mm in Madanpalle (Vikarabad) and 21.8 mm in Edbid (Nirmal).

Hyderabad rain data

TGDPS data showed that as of 9 p.m, Golconda recorded rainfall of 11.8 mm followed by 11.5 mm in Mehdipatnam, 10.8 mm in Banjara Hills, 10.5 mm in Sivarampally, 10.3 mm in Goshamahal, 9.8 mm in Kavadiguda, 9.5 mm in Amberpet, 9.5 mm in Khairatabad, 9 mm in Tarnaka and 7.5 mm in Jubilee Hills.

According to IMDs latest bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana.

Hyderabad city and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see generally cloudy sky. “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers at times with heavy spells at a few places accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur towards evening or night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36℃ and 26℃ respectively,” as per the bulletin.

A significant drop in the highest temperature was observed in Telangana; from 46°C in April last week, the highest temperature in the State dropped to 42°C on Thursday (May 7, 2026). The maximum temperatures in the 33 districts was over 42°C a week ago, and it was 38.9°C a day ago. 

The highest of 42°C in Adavi Devula Palli in Nalgonda on Thursday was followed by 41.8°C in Kaddam Peduri in Nirmal and 41.7°C in Mangapet in Mulugu, according to Telangana Development Planning Society’s daily report. 

Temperatures in urban districts 

The maximum temperature in Hyderabad was 40.7°C, 39.9°C in Rangareddy and 39.6°C in Medchal Malkajgiri. The maximum temperatures in the three urban districts reached 42°C a week ago.

Very light to moderate rain was recorded in 162 of 621 mandals in the State on Thursday.

Thunderstorms forecast in 12 Telangana districts

India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad Centre on Thursday has forecast thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds as very likely on Friday (May 8, 2026), in isolated parts of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Mahabubnagar.
