A significant drop in the highest temperature was observed in Telangana; from 46°C in April last week, the highest temperature in the State dropped to 42°C on Thursday (May 7, 2026). The maximum temperatures in the 33 districts was over 42°C a week ago, and it was 38.9°C a day ago.
The highest of 42°C in Adavi Devula Palli in Nalgonda on Thursday was followed by 41.8°C in Kaddam Peduri in Nirmal and 41.7°C in Mangapet in Mulugu, according to Telangana Development Planning Society’s daily report.
Temperatures in urban districts
The maximum temperature in Hyderabad was 40.7°C, 39.9°C in Rangareddy and 39.6°C in Medchal Malkajgiri. The maximum temperatures in the three urban districts reached 42°C a week ago.
Very light to moderate rain was recorded in 162 of 621 mandals in the State on Thursday.
Thunderstorms forecast in 12 Telangana districts
India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad Centre on Thursday has forecast thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds as very likely on Friday (May 8, 2026), in isolated parts of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Mahabubnagar.
