Three armed men reached the showroom and fired multiple rounds

New Delhi:

Three gangsters entered a West Delhi showroom in broad daylight yesterday, gave the owner an extortion note with an amount written on it, fired multiple times in the air to drive home their message, and then boldly walked out.

A CCTV camera outside the showroom captured the audacity with which the criminals carried out the extortion attempt at a showroom in the national capital in full public view. The shooters, it is learnt, are from the Jitendra Gogi gang. While gangster Jitendra Gogi was shot dead at Rohini court in 2021, his aide Deepak Boxer, who is in jail, heads the gang now. This gang also has links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The CCTV footage shows three people walking towards the entrance to the showroom. They are armed and their faces are covered. The one at the front is seen wearing a helmet and holding a piece of paper. As he enters the showroom, the other two men start firing in the air, clearly to create panic. Soon, the man who went inside comes out and joins the other two in firing shots. The three then walk away. One of them turns back and fires more shots.

The extortion note has a photograph of Gogi with another gangster, Kuldeep Fajja. It names “Yogesh Dhaiya”, “Fajje Bhai” and “Monti Mann” and “10 Cr” is written on it.

According to police sources, the gang has recently started making extortion demands in this manner. The threat — and the bold manner in which it was made — is being seen as the gang’s challenge to Delhi Police. On Monday, two firing incidents occurred in Delhi’s Nangloi and Alipur. The Gogi gang’s name came up in these cases too.

Senior police officers have told news agency ANI that a police case has been registered. A police team has inspected the spot and efforts are on to trace the accused, police said.

The viral video has prompted Delhi Police to intensify the search for the accused boys.

New Delhi:

A shocking incident in which 2 boys allegedly harassed and threatened a woman and her son with knives in Delhi’s Raj Park area has gone viral on social media after video footage of the incident was posted online.

In the video, two boys are seen surrounding a woman and her son, with one boy pulling out a long weapon from his waist and threatening to kill her. The boy is seen trying to attack the woman with a long knife, pulling it back and swinging it towards the woman at least twice. A crowd is also seen witnessing the entire incident, with a few bystanders intervening to try and control the boys by pulling them away from the woman.

Officials said they have started an investigation on the basis of CCTV footage (Representational)

New Delhi:

After three firing incidents in 24 hours, Delhi has seen a major incident of robbery with 4 kg of gold worth over Rs 3.5 crore being stolen.

Police officials said a gold merchant from central Delhi’s Karol Bagh got off an auto in north Delhi’s Gulabi Bagh when he was waylaid by men on a bike on Friday night. Approximately 4 kg of gold was looted from him, valued at over Rs 3.5 crore.

Officials said they have started an investigation on the basis of CCTV footage.

On Friday evening, three men fired over 20 rounds at a second-hand luxury car showroom in southwest Delhi’s Naraina, barely a kilometre from the local police station. A video of the shooting showed two men firing while two employees were seated and a third man threatened them.

The shooting, which took place at ‘Car Street Mini’, was part of an extortion attempt. The shooters left a slip behind, which read “Bhau Gang, Since 2020” and was seen as a reference to wanted gangster Himanshu Bhau, who fled the country in 2022 and is believed to be in Portugal. Sources said Rs 5 crore had been demanded from the owners of the showroom.

No injuries were reported, but four luxury cars – two BMWs, a Mini Cooper and a Mercedes – were damaged. Police said on Saturday that the three shooters had been identified and a case has been registered against them.

Hours before the Naraina firing, 5-6 rounds were fired at a hotel, Hotel Impress, in southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur, damaging its glass gate. Also seen as an extortion attempt, the owner had received a threat call in the name of Canada-based gangster Goldie Brar.

The third shooting took place at a sweet shop in West Delhi’s Nangloi. A slip was found bearing the name of jailed gangster Deepak Boxer.

Police have found two cameras hidden in bulb holders in the woman’s rented home

New Delhi:

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Delhi’s Shakarpur after he allegedly used spy cameras hidden in bulbs to film a woman tenant in the bathroom and bedroom, police have said.

The woman, who is prepping for civil services entrance exams, lives alone in a rented accommodation in Shakarpur. The accused, Karan, is the landlord’s son and lives on another floor in the building. She left the keys with him when she visited her hometown in Uttar Pradesh.

According to senior police officer Apoorva Gupta, the woman has stated in her complaint to police that she recently noticed some unusual activity on her WhatsApp account. On checking devices linked to her WhatsApp account, she found an unknown laptop on the list. She promptly logged out.

Following this episode, the woman became cautious and suspected she was being snooped upon. She started searching her apartment for any surveillance devices, police said. “She found one camera installed in the bulb holder of her bathroom and alerted the police by making a PCR Call,” the senior officer said. The officer said a sub-inspector reached the woman’s place and searched it again and another camera was found installed in the bulb holder of her bedroom.

Asked if anyone else had access to her room, the woman told police that she often left the keys with Karan when she travelled.

During interrogation, Karan told the police that the woman had left the keys to the room with him when she visited her hometown three months back. “Seizing this opportunity, Karan purchased three spy cameras commonly available in electronics markets and installed one in her bedroom and one in her bathroom,” the police officer said.

These cameras cannot be operated online and the footage is stored in memory cards. So, Karan repeatedly asked the woman for keys on the pretext of electrical repairs in her room so that he could transfer the recorded videos to his laptop.

During the investigation, one spy camera and two laptops used to store the recorded videos were seized from Karan. The 30-year-old accused, who is a person with disability, now faces a case of voyeurism under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Under this law, he may be jailed for at least a year. Police have said further probe is on.

Balesh Kumar had changed his name to Aman Singh to hide his identity

New Delhi:

A former Navy employee, who had been living under a false identity after faking his death, has been arrested for allegedly choking a man to death and setting two others on fire nearly 20 years back.

Balesh Kumar, now 60, was arrested after Delhi Police received information that a man wanted for a 2004 murder in Delhi’s Bawana locality was living at Najafgarh, nearly 30 km away. Kumar had changed his name to Aman Singh and had been working as a property dealer, Delhi Police crime branch senior officer Ravinder Yadav said.

When the police arrested Kumar following an investigation that confirmed their suspicions, chilling details came to the fore.

Originally from Haryana, Kumar had studied till Class 8. He joined the Navy in 1981 and retired in 1996. After that, he started a transport business and lived in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar with his family.

Kumar has told police that he and his brother Sunder Lal had choked a person named Rajesh at Delhi’s Samaypur Badli in 2004. He has said the three were drinking when an altercation broke out over an alleged extramarital affair between Kumar and Rajesh’s wife. The argument turned to a scuffle, and Kumar and his brother, both intoxicated, choked Rajesh to death.

Kumar then plotted an escape plan. He hired two labourers from Bihar, Manoj and Mukesh, from Delhi’s Samaypur Badli, and promised them work. The three then left for Rajasthan in a truck belonging to Kumar’s brother. At Jodhpur, Kumar allegedly set the truck on fire, with the labourers inside. He then left his documents inside. When police reached the spot, one of the bodies was identified as that of Kumar’s. The other body was not identified.

When Rajesh’s murder case came up in court, police said Sunder Lal had been arrested and Kumar was dead in the truck fire.

Kumar’s wife got his pension benefits and life insurance amount. The insurance for the truck was also routed to his wife. His past identity and crimes had been well covered up, till luck ran out.

Delhi Police have now asked their Jodhpur counterparts to reopen the truck fire case following the new revelations.

Police indicate the killing follows a fight that took place last year.

New Delhi:

A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death by eight attackers in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Saturday night.

Shocking CCTV visuals show the 20-year-old surrounded by his killers and dragged down a narrow street as they stab and kick him in a blind fury. The horrific assault continues for several seconds – even as over half-a-dozen eyewitnesses, including several on two-wheelers, stand by and do nothing.

As the minute-long CCTV clip plays out, some of the attackers break off and watch as four of them drag their victim back down the street while continuing their savage attack.

Thirty seconds into the clip – it is unclear how long the attack went on before it was caught on camera – the teen is pushed to the side of the road, and his bloodied shirt reveals the multiple stab wounds.

Police Case Filed

Police were alerted after staff at the Majeedia Hospital said they had admitted a patient – identified as Dilshad, a resident of the area – who had been assaulted with a knife and was in “critical condition”.

Authorities rushed to the hospital and found Dilshad being treated for multiple stab injuries on his chest and other parts of his body. He was on a ventilator to assist in breathing and was swiftly referred to the Delhi government-run Safdarjung Hospital for better treatment. He was not able to give a statement.

However, a police case was filed on the basis of information provided by the hospital and eight suspects – all minors – were taken into custody. All are also residents of Sangam Vihar.

Initial inquiries have revealed the murder followed a fight that took place last year.
