Secret Behind India’s Six Hitting? Rahul Dravid’s Epic Response Floors Everyone

Secret Behind India’s Six Hitting? Rahul Dravid’s Epic Response Floors Everyone

The India vs England Test series was entertaining on all aspects. While the five-match contest offered some gritty knocks and promising spells, it also saw a world record being registered in terms of sixes. India and England together hit a total of 102 sixes, which is the most in any Test series. Rohit Sharma and Co. hit 72 of them while guests England smashed the remaining 30. Out of the ones India hit, Yashasvi Jaiswal individually accounted for 29 sixes. He also went on to break Rohit’s world record of hitting most sixes in a Test series.

When asked to comment on India’s six-hitting spree in the series, head coach Rahul Dravid came out with a funny reply.

“I was just showing (the team) videos of me batting, man. So they are hitting sixes now,” said Dravid to host broadcaster after the game.

“But it is incredible to watch, and that is one facet of the game that is at a different level. We have got someone (Rohit Sharma) who is the greatest six-hitter India has ever produced. It is phenomenal – the (six) hitting power, the skill, the ability. Every time they hit the ball, it seems to go out. It’s amazing,” he added.

India, who had lost the first Test match of the series, went on to seal the contest 4-1. The Rohit-led side showed a remarkable turnaround to seal the series in its favour.

The victory saw India becoming the first team after 112 years to register a 4-1 win after losing the first game. Before this, England was the team to do so back in 1912 in the Ashes series against Australia.

Jaiswal topped the scorers’ chart with a total of 712 runs to his name across 9 innings. He averaged 89. It is worth noting that the second-most run-getter in the series was Shubman Gill, having a 260-run gap with Jaiswal.

In the bowling department, Ravichandran Ashwin aced with 26 wickets, averaging 24.81.
