“RCB Will Never Win IPL Until…”: Harbhajan Singh Sets No. 1 Title Criteria For Virat Kohli’s Team

After six defeats on the bounce, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took a sigh of relief, beating SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) last time out in IPL 2024. It was a collective performance from the batters and bowlers as RCB won just their second game of the campaign. At times this season, RCB have not been clinical with their batting, but the ordinary display from the bowlers has been their Achilles heel. RCB have leaked run heavily in the powerplay, but for a change, the bowlers joined the party against SRH.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has re-iterated that RCB will not win titles if they continue to rely on batters to score runs every game.

Harbhajan feels that the management should use some common sense and pick quality bowlers at the auction next time out.

“Bilkul! Auction me baithe hain jo log, mujhe ye samajh nahi aata aap log jab auction karne jate ho, aap dekhte ho ki aap logon ko ek balanced team chahye. Aapko heavy ballebaazi hamesha match nahi jitati. Aap jab tak aachhe gendbaz nahi pick karange, tab tak aap jitange nahi. (Definitely. The people who sit there at the auction have to ensure they have a balanced team. Batting heavy side will not always win you matches. Till the time you do not pick good bowlers, you are not going to win titles). Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

Harbhajan also feels that RCB need an Indian guy in the support staff who can help the uncapped India players, especially the bowlers.

“RCB ke lihaaz se, unko management me ek Indian rakhna zaruri hai  din pore maidanon ko, Indian youngsters ko samjhe. Jaa ke unke matches (domestic) dekhe aur unko select kare team me. Aur gendbazi aachhi select karni zaruri hai. Batting unki hamesha tagdi rahi hai but kahin-na-kahin wo maar khate hain to gendbazi me. (From RCB management’s perspective, they should have an Indian in the management, who understands Indian youngsters. He should go and see their performances (Indian talents) in domestic cricket and make sure they are picked. It is very crucial to have a good bowling attack. They have always had outstanding batting line-up but it is their bowling which has let them down), he added.

With two wins from nine matches, RCB are currently occupy the last spot in the 10-team table.

They will now take on Gujarat Titans on Sunday, with their every match being a virtual knock out game from here.
