Net Profit Slips 4%, Margin Contracts

The net profit for RailTel Corp. fell 4.1% in the third quarter of FY26, according to an exchange filing on Monday. 

The company reported its bottom line at Rs 62.4 crore in the quarter ended Dec. 31, compared to Rs 65.1 crore in the year-ago period. 

Revenue went up 19% from Rs 768 crore in the corresponding period of last year to Rs 913 crore. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation also rose 10% to Rs 133 crore from Rs 121 crore, yet margin narrowed to 14.6% from 15.8% year-on-year.

  • Net Profit falls 4.1% at Rs 62.4 crore versus Rs 65.1 crore.
  • Revenue rises 19% at Rs 913 crore versus Rs 768 crore.
  • Ebitda up 10.1% at Rs 133 crore versus Rs 121 crore.
  • Margin at 14.6% versus 15.8%.

Segmental Performance

Total segmental revenue of the company stood at 913.45 crore, compared to Rs 767 crore in Q3 FY25. The company consists of two main segments: telecom services and project work services. Revenue from the former came in at Rs 349.5 crore and the latter’s revenue stood at Rs 564 crore. 

Profit before tax for telecom services was Rs 78.92 crore, an increase from Rs 69.72 crore in the year-ago period. While there was a slight decrease in PBT in the Project Work Services from Rs 20.89 crore to Rs 18.77 crore. 

Share Price

RailTel Corp.’s stock ended 1.35% higher at Rs 336.65 apiece on the BSE on Monday. This compares to a 1.17% advance in the BSE index.
