Mumbai Indians IPL Retentions: Full List Of Players Retained And Released

Mumbai Indians IPL Retentions: Full List Of Players Retained And Released

Posted on October 31, 2024 By admin

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced their list of retained players for the mega auctions of the upcoming editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Jasprit Bumrah received the highest retention price, with Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav all getting similar retention fees. All the ten franchises were asked to submit their final list of retained players by Thursday, October 31. Despite a forgettable outing in IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians have also chosen to retain Hardik Pandya as captain of the franchise, over Rohit Sharma or Suryakumar Yadav.

Tilak Varma is Mumbai Indians’ fifth retention ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, having been kept on for Rs 8 cr. MI chose not to retain an uncapped player and, as a result, will be entering the auction with one Right to Match (RTM) card.

A lot of talk ahead of the retentions announcement was how MI were going to manage the pay structure in order to retain all four senior India stars, in the form of Bumrah, Pandya, Rohit and Suryakumar.

Although Rohit Sharma has received a rise in his retention price compared to the IPL 2022 retention, he has gone from being MI’s highest retention to their fourth-highest retention.

The decision to retain Tilak Varma as the fifth capped player meant that wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has been let go. Kishan had been a part of MI since 2018, playing a crucial role in their IPL-winning years of 2019 and 2020.

Australia batter Tim David and South African stars Dewald Brevis and Gerald Coetzee are the biggest overseas players let go by Mumbai Indians.

Uncapped India stars Nehal Wadhera, Naman Dhir and Anshul Kamboj have also not been retained by the franchise.

Mumbai Indians will enter the auction with a purse of Rs 45 cr.

PLAYERS RETAINED:

1. Jasprit Bumrah (Rs 18 cr)

2. Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 16.35 cr)

3. Hardik Pandya (Rs 16.35 cr)

4. Rohit Sharma (Rs 16.30 cr)

5. Tilak Varma (Rs 8 cr)

AUCTION BUDGET: Rs 45 cr

RTMs available: 1

MI IPL 2024 squad: Dewald Brevis, Ishan Kishan, Naman Dhir, Tim David, Vishnu Vinod, Arjun Tendulkar, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, Kumar Kartikeya, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Jason Behrendorff, Romario Shepherd, Kwena Maphaka, Luke Wood, Anshul Kamboj.
