Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz gifted his batting gloves to a fan in a viral gesture. Ahead of KKR’s opening game of the new Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Gurbaz interacted with a some fans at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He clicked pictures with the fans and also gifted a young guy his batting gloves. In a viral video, the fan had asked Gurbaz for his batting gloves and the Afghan wicketkeeper-batter made his day by accepting his request.

Gurbaz will look to play a key role for KKR at the top of the order. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2024 players auctions.

He had played 11 games last season, scoring 227 runs at an average of 20.64. He scored just two half-centuries.

Meanwhile, KKR finished seventh last season under the leadership of Nitish Rana, who had replaced the injured Shreyas Iyer at the helm.

While Iyer will resume his captaincy duties this season, there have been rumours that the batter might miss the first few games due to a back issue.

During the players auction, KKR broke the bank for Australia pacer Mitchell Starc, making him the costliest buy in the history of the tournament.

Starc was bought by KKR for Rs 24.75 following a bidding war with Gujarat Titans. Despite spending more than half of their purse amount on Starc, KKR finished the auction with nine more players in the bag.

KKR face SunRisers Hyderabad in their opening match on Saturday, March 23 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

KKR IPL 2024 Squad:

Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Shreyas Iyer (captain), Jason Roy, Sunil Narine, Suyash Sharma, Anukul Roy, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakaravarthy, KS Bharat, Chetan Sakariya, Mitchell Starc, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ramandeep Singh, Sherfane Rutherford, Manish Pandey, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Gus Atkinson, Sakib Hussain.
