Member of Parliament Milind Deora wrote a letter to Ashwini Bhide, Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Friday regarding an omission. Mr. Deora stated that the BMC did not invite him to an inauguration in Colaba.

Mr. Deora is a Rajya Sabha MP from the Shiv Sena, which is part of the ruling alliance in Maharashtra. Colaba falls in the area he represents.

The event was for a housing project under the Ashray Yojana on November 6, 2026, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde attending. Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Mayor Ritu Tawde, and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi also attended. The BMC distributed keys to workers under the scheme.

Mr. Deora wrote in the letter that representatives require notice of events in the areas they represent, noting that the event took place without informing him. He wrote that coordination and courtesy towards representatives must accompany initiatives, stating that representatives need to receive information about developments for the people they serve.

The MP requested Mr. Bhide to look into the matter and asked the Commissioner to ensure that protocol is followed to prevent an omission. He requested that officials receive advice to ensure coordination with representatives for functions.
