Karur exporters get a peek into global textile trends

Karur exporters get a peek into global textile trends

Posted on November 2, 2026 By admin

Textile exporters and industry professionals were given an overview of the emerging global trends, colour forecasts, and visual merchandising techniques at a seminar on “Heimtextil Trends 2027-28 and Visual Merchandising” organised by the Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) in Karur recently.

As the lead council for India’s participation in Heimtextil, the annual international trade fair held in Frankfurt, the HEPC has been facilitating the participation of Indian exporters in the fair for over two decades, providing them with a platform to showcase their products to the global market.

For the upcoming Heimtextil 2027, scheduled to be held from January 12 to 15, 2027, in Frankfurt, around 80 exporters from India have been provided with an opportunity to exhibit their products. The participating exporters are supported through subsidies under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, according to a HEPC press release.

The seminar aimed to provide insights into the latest international design developments, colour trends, and market preferences, so as to enable exporters to enhance the appeal of their products, strengthen their competitiveness and explore new business opportunities in the global home textile market.

Lakshmi Narasimhan, Chairman, HEPC, emphasised the importance of understanding global trends and promoting design innovation to strengthen India’s handloom and home textile exports.

‘Atlas’ M. Nachimuthu, Honorary President, and S. Sukumar, Secretary, Karur Textile Manufacturer Exporters Association, highlighted the importance of adapting to changing international market requirements and strengthening the export potential of Karur’s textile industry.

P. Rangasamy, Joint Director, HEPC; Mahesh Borse, Design Consultant, Mahesh Borse Designs; and V. R. Karthikeyarayan, Associate Professor, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai, spoke.
