Pudukottai brought under heavy security cover for CM’s visit on Monday

Posted on November 1, 2026 By admin

Pudukottai has been brought under a heavy security cover as Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is to visit the town on Monday to participate in a government function. This is Mr. Vijay’s maiden visit to Pudukottai after becoming the Chief Minister.

Separate security schemes have been drafted by the Tiruchi City Police, Tiruchi Rural Police, and the Pudukottai district police as the Chief Minister is to reach Pudukottai by road from the Tiruchi International Airport.

Additional strength has been drawn from other districts to tighten security in and around Pudukottai. The Chief Minister will inaugurate the new bus stand in Pudukottai and distribute welfare assistance to several beneficiaries during the official function. The District Armed Reserve ground in Pudukottai — the venue of the government function had been spruced up with detailed arrangements having been made by the district administration.

Over 4,000 police personnel had been mobilised for security duty in connection with the Chief Minister’s visit. In addition to Pudukottai police personnel, manpower had been drawn from central, north, and south zones to augment strength.  The deployment would be at the function venue, new bus stand, and all over Pudukottai town. Anti-sabotage teams had been mobilised as part of the detailed security arrangement.

Police sources said the Chief Minister would arrive by a special flight at the Tiruchi International Airport from Chennai around 10.30 a.m. and travel by road to Pudukottai. He will inaugurate the new bus stand and proceed to the Armed Reserve ground where the government function was to be held.

As the airport falls under the jurisdiction of the Tiruchi City Police, a separate security scheme had been drafted with security tightened at the airport. Route security would be provided from the airport to Pudukottai along the Tiruchi-Pudukottai national highway with deployment of police personnel along the entire stretch up to Pudukottai, said the sources.

Route security would continue from Pudukottai to the airport when the Chief Minister returns by road after the conclusion of the function. The sources said after the conclusion of the function the Chief Minister was expected to make a halt at the Circuit House in Pudukottai. He is expected to leave from Pudukottai around 3 p.m. to the Tiruchi airport from where he would head back to Chennai by the special flight at around 4.15 p.m., the sources said.  On the eve of the Chief Minister’s visit, advanced security liaison meetings were held in Pudukottai and at the Tiruchi airport on Sunday.
