Shankarpally police deny forcing minor girl to undergo medical examination

Posted on October 23, 2026 By admin

The Shankarpally police on Friday denied allegations that a minor girl involved in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was forced to undergo a medical examination, following the circulation of a video on social media.

In a clarification issued by the Future City Police Commissionerate, the police maintained that no force or coercion was used during the procedure and that the girl’s objections were duly recorded.

According to the police, the case was registered on October 12 following a complaint from the girl’s father, who suspected that his daughter had been kidnapped.

During the investigation, the girl’s statement was recorded at the Bharosa Centre, witnesses were examined and her Class X memorandum and other relevant documents were verified. The police said the available records established that she was a minor. The accused was subsequently produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

As part of the investigation, the girl was referred for a medical examination. However, she maintained that she was a major and objected to the examination.

The police said her objections were recorded and denied allegations circulating on social media that she had been subjected to a forced medical examination. The Shankarpally police maintained that all procedures were being followed in accordance with the law and that the investigation was being conducted fairly and transparently.
