The Pilikula Development Authority (PDA) announced that it would organise ‘Pilikula Matsyotsava’ and ‘Meenu Aahara Mela’ at the Pilikula Lake Garden in Pilikula Nisargadhama on Sunday.

Talking to reporters at the Press Club in Mangaluru on Friday, PDA Commissioner Arun Kumar Shetty said freshwater fish reared in the lake would be sold during the event. The authority has planned to sell around 1,500 kg of freshwater fish. Expert fish catchers from Shivamogga will be among the fishermen called to catch fish from the lake, which is 20 feet deep.

Dr. Shetty said fish, namely Rohu, Katla and Tilapia, will be available for sale. The fish will be sold at ₹160 per kg. There will also be stalls selling dishes made using freshwater and sea fish, alongside the sale of value-added fish products.

The official said there will be no entry charges for those coming to the ‘Pilikula Matsyotsava’, though charges have to be paid for visits to the planetarium and Pilikula Zoo. The Matsyotsava will start at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, he said.
