The Rajamahendravaram Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court on Monday (October 12, 2026) sentenced Assistant Engineer Bhukya Bala Krishna of Raghavapuram in Chintalapudi mandal in the then West Godavari district to one year of simple imprisonment for accepting a ₹4,000 bribe from a farmer.

The accused, working in Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APEPDCL), demanded a bribe for providing an electricity connection to the borewell motor located on the farmer’s agricultural land.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the farmer, the ACB officials trapped the assistant engineer while he was accepting a ₹4,000 bribe on May 3, 2008.
