Traffic police arrest 25 persons involved in bike racing in various parts of Chennai

Posted on October 5, 2026 By admin

The City Traffic Police have rounded up 16 persons, who were involved in bike racing, and seized 11 two-wheelers used for these stunts on Sunday.

A senior official of the City Traffic Police said in the early morning on Sunday, a group of 15 to 20 unidentified individuals were engaged in stunts on two-wheelers near Valluvar Kottam, in Nungambakkam. This posed hardships to other motorists and residents in the locality.

In connection with this incident, the Traffic Investigation Wing, and Law and Order police stations filed cases under three sections against these individuals. Based on the CCTV camera footage and the videos taken by the residents, the City police arrested 16 persons involved in the bike stunts and 11 two-wheelers used for the stunts were seized.

During intensive vehicle checks conducted by the Traffic Police on Sunday night, 56 two-wheelers operated without number plates were seized.

The City police on Monday arrested nine more persons for performing dangerous stunts on two-wheelers and seized five two-wheelers as part of the ongoing strict action against bike racing.

Of the nine persons, the Mylapore Traffic Investigation Wing arrested four individuals, and the Triplicane Traffic Investigation Wing arrested five persons. The City police has formed a special team and they are searching for other individuals involved in these bike stunts.

The Greater Chennai Police in a press release have issued a warning that strict legal action will be taken against those who engage in such bike stunts including ‘wheeling’ and by these actions threaten the life of the public or damage caused to any public property.
