KHAMMAM
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy hailed TANLA Foundation founder Uday Kumar Reddy’s initiative to construct 5,000 houses free of cost for poor people in the Sathupalli and Aswaraopeta Assembly constituencies at an estimated ₹300 crore.
The Minister visited the rural health centre and pathological laboratory run by TANLA Foundation at Bethupalli Gangaram village in Sathupalli mandal on Saturday, according to a press release.
He said Mr. Uday Kumar Reddy had come forward to construct the 5,000 houses with his personal funds through the TANLA Foundation, provided the State government allotted house sites to eligible poor people in the two constituencies in the erstwhile Khammam district.
“It is heartening to see charitable organisations joining hands with the government in its endeavour to realise the dream of poor people to own houses,” he added.
The Bhoomi Puja for the construction of the houses would be performed on Dasara, the Minister said, and directed the Collectors of Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts to identify eligible beneficiaries and complete the process of allotting house sites.
Sathupalli MLA Matta Ragamayee, Aswaraopeta MLA Jare Adinarayana, Mr. Uday Kumar Reddy and others were present.
