Bholanath calls for Executive Committee meeting, Tirkey says it is ‘unapproved’

Bholanath calls for Executive Committee meeting, Tirkey says it is ‘unapproved’

Posted on October 1, 2026 By admin

While the Indian hockey teams continue their unbeaten march towards a gold medal at the Asian Games, the federation power politics keep getting worse. In the latest turn of events, Hockey India secretary general Bholanath Singh has called for an executive board meeting on Tuesday (October 6) even as president Dilip Tirkey has called it unapproved.

Bholanath, currently here for the Asian Games, issued the mail on Thursday afternoon calling for an EB to approve the agenda for the previous meeting and discuss the elections to Hockey Odisha. “Notice is hereby given that the 120th Executive Committee meeting of Hockey India will be held at 1200 hrs on October 6, 2026, at the Hockey India office in New Delhi,” the mail stated.

It also mentioned the police complaint, filed by Tirkey last week against certain HI officials claiming fraud and harassment, as part of the meeting’s agenda.

Interestingly, Tirkey had contested the previous EB meeting in New Delhi as well, calling it invalid and unauthorised and insisting that only the president had the power to convene. Sources said the elections at Hockey Odisha, where Tirkey is the president, are also disputed.
