Indian Navy officials from the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) announced that the 11th edition of the Vizag Navy Marathon (VNM), a flagship event of the Navy Day celebrations, will be held on December 13, 2026. Registrations for the event will open on October 4, and participants can sign up at www.vizagnavymarathon.run. State Bank of India (SBI) continues its association as the title sponsor.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday (September 26, 2026), race organiser and Commanding Officer of INS Kalinga S.S. Dhody said that the event aims to encourage maximum participation from citizens to embrace a healthier lifestyle while enjoying the city’s scenic coastline. He noted that promotional activities are already underway, including promo runs and conditioning and strength training programmes at RK Beach.
Highlighting the growth of the event, Mr. Dhody pointed out that participation has surged from 4,000 runners in 2014 to 17,000 in 2025.
The marathon will feature four race categories: 42K, 21K, 10K, and 5K. The race routes are accredited by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). A total prize pool of approximately ₹10 lakh will be awarded to winners. Participants will receive a comprehensive race kit, including a T-shirt, medal, refreshments, and a participation certificate.
Also speaking at the briefing, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg stated that the marathon extends beyond a mere sporting competition, serving as a celebration of collective well-being and a unique platform to experience Visakhapatnam’s stunning landscape. He urged residents to register in large numbers to make the milestone event a resounding success.
