The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday (September 16, 2026) conducted searches at multiple premises in Kolkata and Indore in Madhya Pradesh as part of a money laundering probe linked to an alleged investment fraud case where numerous investors were cheated, officials said.

They said that about 17 premises in the two cities linked to the Amrit group of companies and its promoters were raided under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The said group of companies and its directors are alleged to have collected money from the general public under the guise of various deposit schemes with the promise of high return but did not repay the promised return, the officials said.

The company or its promoters could not be contacted immediately for a comment on the ED action.
