Minister Bindhu Krishna and District Collector Anie Jula Thomas at the wedding of a resident of Government After Care Home for Adolescent Girls at Injavila, Kollam, Keralam, on Tuesday (September 15, 2026).

The Government After Care Home for Adolescent Girls at Injavila, Kollam, witnessed a heartwarming moment as Shalini, who grew up under the protective care of the institution, embarked on a new journey.

On Tuesday morning (September 15, 2026), she tied the knot with Sudheesh S., a private sector employee residing at Soubhagya in Vettuvila, Anchalummoodu. The wedding ceremony took place at the Niraavil Panamoodu Devi Temple auditorium in the presence of Women and Child Development Minister Bindhu Krishna, with District Collector Anie Jula Thomas serving as the chief patron for the event. Shalini, who was born at the SS Samithi and completed her education through Eravipuram Karunyatheeram, had spent the past three years under the loving care of the After Care Home before stepping into this new chapter.

Wedding present

Adding to the joy of the occasion, the Child Welfare Committee gifted a sewing machine as a wedding present to support Shalini’s future, recognising her skill in tailoring. Stepping out from an institutional life into the warmth of a family’s love, Shalini’s wedding was a moment of profound joy for many.

The staff of the After Care Home were filled with immense happiness as they sent off their beloved daughter into a new life.
