The Telangana government has decided to construct a state-of-the art Haj House near the international airport in Shamshabad with an estimated ₹86.5 crore.

The government has set aside two acre land at Mamidipalli in Shamshabad mandal for the purpose and is in the process of roping in reputed architects for the design of the new complex. Senior officials accompanied by Wakf Board chief executive officer visited Bengaluru to inspect the Haj House model there and the government was planning to construct the Haj House which would be a role model for others, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said.

The Deputy Chief Minister was replying to a query by AIMIM-floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday (September 10, 2026). Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka informed the member that the government would soon convene a meeting of the stakeholders to resolve issues raised by the AIMIM leader and take a final call on the new Haj House.

Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi asked the Minister to clarify what the government proposed to do with the existing Haj House building located in the central part of Hyderabad, as well as the status of the building owned by the Wakf Board adjacent to it.

He lamented that steps had not been taken to ensure effective maintenance of the Haj House and wanted the government to put in place an effective mechanism towards this end. To Mr. Owaisi’s query on what the government proposed to do with the old Haj House building, Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin said it would be used as a centre for skill development where training would be imparted to the youth from the community in different fields.
