Round-the-clock services in all govt. general hospitals, says Muraleedharan

Keralam Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has said that students from the State should be provided facilities and opportunities to pursue their education here itself.

Opening a new building for the School of Family Health Studies under the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) on the Government Medical College campus here on Saturday (September 5, 2026), he said the government was trying to avoid a situation where students are forced to go elsewhere for their studies. Steps were being taken to expand facilities in medical education, he added.

Mr. Muraleedharan said the government was going ahead with setting up a second government medical college in Thiruvananthapuram. The functioning of government medical colleges opened during the tenure of the erstwhile United Democratic Front government would be improved. Steps would be taken to fill vacancies of doctors in government hospitals. Round-the-clock service would be provided in all government general hospitals in the State. Doctors and other staff were being appointed for the purpose, he added.
