The Bombay High Court on Saturday (August 29, 2026) cancelled the typing test for the recruitment of 1,362 clerk posts after candidates complained of technical glitches at examination centres across Maharashtra and ordered a fresh test.
The decision followed protests by candidates who said server failures, non-responsive keyboards, software lag, automatic logouts and differences in test start times had affected their performance.
Affected candidates demanded a re-examination, citing concerns over the conduct of the test and the impact of the technical issues.
In a notice issued on Saturday (August 29, 2026), the Registrar (Personnel) said the August 16 typing test had been cancelled “to uphold the highest standards of fairness in the selection process”. The fresh test would be held on a date and at venues to be announced separately on the High Court’s website.
CJP founder Abhijit Dipke had supported the protests and personally met candidates affected by the technical glitches to hear their grievances and discuss the problems they faced during the examination.
The Clerk Typing Skill Test requires candidates to type a 400-word English passage within 10 minutes, at a minimum speed of 40 words per minute.
