Woman passenger held with suspected ganja in Keralam’s Kozhikode

Posted on August 30, 2026 By admin

A woman passenger from West Bengal was arrested with 19 kg of ganja at Kozhikode railway station on Sunday. The accused was identified as Minoti Sardar.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers said the woman was travelling in the general coach of the Chennai–Mangaluru Express with the contraband. They said a flash inspection conducted by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the RPF in the morning led to the seizure of the ganja and the arrest of the woman.

GRP sources said the woman was suspected of having procured the stock from Andhra Pradesh. They said she had been involved in similar smuggling attempts earlier.

In a similar incident last week, two other natives of West Bengal were also nabbed by the GRP enforcement squad. The accused, S.K. Suman and Lal Chand, were caught during a flash inspection of the reserved coaches of the same train.
