Six bus passengers were killed in an early-morning accident near Telangana’s Suryapet on Wednesday (August 26, 2026), after a speeding bus crashed into a stationary mid-sized lorry. The toll is likely to go up, as 12 others were seriously injured and have been rescued and shifted to various hospitals in the area. Two of them are in a critical condition, according to officials.
The bus was carrying 42 passengers who were travelling from Hyderabad to Eluru via Vijayawada when the accident took place at about 5 a.m.
While of the injured have been shifted to Kodad Government Hospital. Further details are awaited.
CM Revanth Reddy expresses shock, directs officials to ensure best medical care
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed deep shock over the tragic road accident.
The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and directed the Chief Secretary, Sanjay Jaju, to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment. He also instructed officials to extend all necessary assistance to the victims and their families.
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy also expressed shock over the accident and extended his sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives. He instructed district officials to ensure prompt and quality medical care for the injured and closely monitor the rescue and relief efforts. Meanwhile, Kodad MLA N. Padmavathi Reddy expressed profound grief over the mishap.
