Land subsidence causes cracks in hospital in Jharkhand’s Giridih

Land subsidence causes cracks in hospital in Jharkhand’s Giridih

Posted on August 25, 2026 By admin

Multiple cracks developed in a colliery hospital building in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Tuesday (August 25, 2026) morning following land subsidence in the area, an official said.

The incident took place in Baniyadih village in the Mufassil police station area, which is within the command area of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL).

No one was injured in the incident, officials said.

CCL Area General Manager K.S. Gaiwal said officials reached the spot after receiving information about the subsidence and took steps to prevent people and animals from entering the affected area.

“The area will be monitored for the next few days to assess whether the subsidence is increasing or subsiding, following which further action will be taken,” he said.

Another official said a few staff members were present inside the hospital building when the incident occurred. “There were no patients in the hospital as the area had witnessed land subsidence earlier as well,” he said.
