Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting is stepping up its presence in India’s rapidly expanding premium skincare market by acquiring a 60% stake in Ahmedabad-based skincare brand Dermatouch at an enterprise valuation of ₹387.5 crore.

The acquisition marks Wipro Consumer Care’s entry into India’s premium skincare segment, a market the company estimates at around ₹30,000 crore and growing at 15-16% annually to become a ₹3 lakh crore industry over the next decade.

The company will acquire the remaining 40% over the next three years. Dermatouch co-founders Anish Nagpal and Amit Purswani, along with the existing management team, will continue to run the business.

Highlighting that skincare in India is already a huge market, Kumar Chander, CEO, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting and MD, Wipro Enterprises, said “the acquisition is part of a broader strategy to strengthen our presence in high-growth consumer categories. We were not present in the digital brand space and we want to grow there and it brings a different segment of customers.”

Dermatouch has emerged as a high-growth digital brand, with revenue more than doubling to ₹131 crore in FY26. Online channels account for as much as 90% of its sales. Its portfolio includes face washes, sunscreens, serums, soaps and moisturisers, targeting concerns such as acne, pigmentation and sun protection.

Wipro already has a sizeable international skincare business with sales of about ₹700 crore. Dermatouch would give the group a dedicated skincare brand in the Indian market.

Chander sees significant headroom for growth, pointing to India’s low per-capita skincare spending. At about $2, it remains well below China’s $20. Derma skincare also accounts for only around 8% of India’s total skincare market, compared with 60% in Singapore, 25% in Malaysia and 15% in Indonesia.
