A 22-year-old man allegedly murdered his father and seriously assaulted his aunt at Ksheerasagaram village in S.R. Puram mandal near Chittoor in the early hours of Friday (August 14, 2026).

The dead man, Anand, 45, a resident of Ksheerasagaram, had married Meena, 43, a native of Chittoor town, 24 years ago. The couple had two sons. Owing to family disputes, Meena had been living separately with her sons in Chittoor.

Their elder son, Jyothesh, 22, reportedly visited his father on Thursday night to discuss the division of the family’s landed property. Following an argument, he allegedly left the village and returned around midnight in an inebriated condition.

While Anand was asleep, Jyothesh allegedly attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the chest and neck. Anand died on the spot. Jyothesh also allegedly assaulted his paternal aunt when she tried to intervene, leaving her seriously injured.

On receiving information, the police reached the scene and began an investigation. A special police team has been formed to trace and arrest the accused.
