Prize money for every round a new feature in National two-wheeler racing

Prize money for every round a new feature in National two-wheeler racing

The MRF Indian National Racing Challenge 2W — 2026, which has attracted top riders and teams, will begin this weekend at the Madras International Circuit (MIC). It will kick-start the five-round competition spread over as many months.

The inaugural round has received 116 entries from across India and Nepal. Almost all the elite riders, representing 15 teams, will line up on different grids.

Among the new features is the prize money for every round — in addition to the trophies — for both individual podium finishers and the teams. But in a bid to reduce costs, Superstock (limited modifications) makes an entry into the 165cc (Intermediate and Girls) and the 301-400cc Open classes, while the SuperSport 301-400cc Open will be the premier category. Meanwhile, Petronas TVS Racing will have its own One-Make Championship comprising Expert, Rookie, Girls, Electric RTE and Media (three rounds) categories.

MMSC president Ajit Thomas said: “After months of preparations that included a few rounds of discussions with the competitors and their teams, we have put together a new-look event which will enjoy as much significance and status as any other National-level competition.”

He added: “We have gone to great lengths to enhance the safety features at the MIC, which was recently inspected and approved by the FIA. We welcome all the stakeholders, especially our long-time sponsors MRF Tyres, to a new season of hope and expectations.”

The first round has received 116 entries.
