Kerala HC says it achieved a higher case clearance ratio

Posted on August 13, 2026 By admin

The Kerala High Court has claimed to have achieved a significant increase in the number of matters available for hearing and disposal through the recently introduced Auto Cause List System (ACLS) and the campaigns undertaken by the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to settle the cases.

The ACLS automatically identifies long-pending cases, prioritises them for listing before the appropriate Benches, and ensures regular and systematic listing of newly instituted cases. The campaign was led by Chief Justice Soumen Sen, according to a communication. Since its introduction on May 19, 2026, a total of 2,02,729 cases were listed before various Benches.

Of the 6,560 cases referred to the Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre of the High Court from January to June 2026, as many as 724 cases were settled at the High Court and 18,110 cases in the district judiciary. The adalats conducted by the High Court Legal Services Committee and the National Lok Adalats organised across the State by the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA) have settled 24,682 cases throughout the State. The High Court Legal Services Committee alone settled 70 cases in the High Court through the Adalats. The combined efforts of the agencies have helped the High Court achieve a higher case clearance ratio, according to a communication.

Victim compensation claims

KeLSA also facilitated the release of ₹48.23 crore for pending victim compensation claims across the State.

The scheme provides financial assistance to victims of crime, including women or their dependents, who have suffered loss or injury as a result of the crime and require rehabilitation, the communication said.
