At least 10 militants killed by security forces in northwest Pakistan

Security forces killed 10 militants and injured 16 others in multiple intelligence-based operations in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).

Security forces launched the operations in Bannu district on Wednesday (August 12, 2026) following intelligence reports and continuous surveillance of militants’ movements and hideouts, police said.

The operations come amid heightened security activity in Bannu, where security forces had on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) killed two militants in an intelligence-based operation near Adnan Cricket Stadium in the Jani Khel area.

Police said drones were used during Wednesday’s operations to target militants hiding at different locations.

According to police, the militants had allegedly been using an Islamic seminary as a hideout. The premises were evacuated before the operation to ensure the safety of civilians, following which security forces targeted militants inside after coming under fire.

During subsequent operations, militants hiding under trees and those travelling on motorcycles were also targeted using quadcopters, police said.

Several hideouts have been destroyed, and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition were recovered during Wednesday’s operations, police said.

Search and clearance operations were continuing in the area, police added.
