Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted Chief Minister and AINRC founder N. Rangasamy on the occasion of his birthday and wished him a long and healthy life.

Mr. Rangasamy, who was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time on May 13 following the return of the National Democratic Alliance in the April 2026 Assembly polls held in the Union Territory, turned 77 on Tuesday (August 4, 2026).

“Best wishes to the Chief Minister of Puducherry, N. Rangasamy on his birthday. His experience and development-oriented leadership has benefitted the people of Puducherry. Praying for his long and healthy life,” Mr. Modi said in a post on ‘X.’

Several other leaders, including Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju and BJP president Nitin Nabin also took to the social media platform ‘X’ to greet the Chief Minister. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK leader C. Joseph Vijay greeted him over phone.

Since early morning, there has been steady flow of visitors to the Chief Minister’s residence at Gorimedu to personally greet him on his birthday. Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, BJP Minister A. Namassivayam, legislators and leaders of various political parties called on Mr. Rangasamy and greeted him.

The town and surrounding areas were filled with banners of the Chief Minister sporting different styles, including in the roles played by Mr. Vijay and other prominent Tamil and Telugu actors. In some of the posters, the Chief Minister was seen clad in a Spanish football team jersey holding the football world cup. He was also seen in different avatars in some of the banners.
