Delhi govt. doubles salaries of DDMA personnel after 16 years

Posted on August 2, 2026 By admin

The Delhi government has hiked the remuneration of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) personnel by 100% with immediate effect, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Sunday.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the move was long overdue and aimed at delivering justice to officials who have served as the backbone of the city’s disaster management system without any revision in pay for 16 years.

The hike will benefit staff including project officers, district project officers and project coordinators.

Ms. Gupta said these positions were created in 2009 with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

“Since then, their monthly remuneration remained unchanged even as inflation rose, disaster management challenges became more complex, and responsibilities expanded. The monthly remuneration was fixed at ₹25,000 for Project Officers and District Project Officers, and ₹20,000 for Project Coordinators,” Ms. Gupta stated in a release.

She added that these posts were not linked to any regular government pay structure or equivalent category. As a result, personnel did not benefit from periodic revisions or receive dearness allowance, unlike other government employees.

“The Delhi government’s objective is not merely to increase remuneration, but to build a stronger, more modern disaster management system prepared for future challenges. Recognising the personnel’s experience, expertise and dedication is the government’s responsibility,” added the Chief Minister.
