Bihar cabinet gives nod to fill up 22,981 posts of Anganwadi workers

Posted on July 29, 2026 By admin

The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) gave its nod to fill up the 22,891 posts of Anganwadi Worker/Helper under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in the State.

It was among 24 decisions taken at today’s Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

The Cabinet approved “Anganwadi Worker/Helper Selection Guidelines- 2026”, which will initiate the process to fill the total 22,891 vacant posts, comprising 6,141 Anganwadi Workers and 16,750 Anganwadi Helpers, the Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary told reporters in a post-Cabinet briefing.

Under the ICDS scheme, children up to six years of age, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and other beneficiaries are provided with supplementary nutrition, pre-school education, health check-ups, referral services, immunisation, and nutrition & health education through Anganwadi Centres.

The Cabinet gave its nod for the creation of one post each of District and Additional Sessions Judge, totalling 19 (nineteen) posts, in the Exclusive Special Courts established for the speedy disposal of cases pending under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

The 19 posts will be filled in 19 judgeships, namely: West Champaran (Bettiah), Madhubani, Bhojpur (Ara), Siwan, Araria, Supaul, Khagaria, Jehanabad, Buxar, Jamui, Kaimur, Katihar, Sitamarhi, Munger, Madhepura, Banka, Sheikhpura, Aurangabad, and Lakhisarai.

Similarly, the Cabinet also decided to approve the creation of three (03) posts of District and Additional Sessions Judges for the establishment of two (02) additional Special Courts at Patna and one (01) additional Special Court at Muzaffarpur.

The Cabinet also gave its approval for the implementation of the e-Cabinet system in the State and the selection and award of work to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) on a nomination basis, Mr. Chaudhary said.

The State will establish a completely secure, digital technology-based paperless environment. This will lead to savings in administrative time, operational costs, and human effort, while also promoting a faster, more transparent, and workflow-based system of governance, he added.

In another important decision, the cabinet approved the Bihar Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2026, which will provide the facility of home registration for land, plots, and flats through the Mobile Registration Unit to senior citizens aged 75 years or above.

It may be noted that earlier, the Cabinet had provided the facility to senior citizens aged 80 years or above to register land, plots, or flats from the comfort of their homes but Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary while launching the paperless registration facility on July 11, 2026 had announced that the home registration facility for land, plots, and flats would be extended to senior citizens aged 75 years or above.

Under the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Scheme, a scheme worth ₹106.39 crore has been approved for the strengthening and expansion of Vegfed’s three-tier cooperative structure.

Block-level basic infrastructure will be constructed, and arrangements for working capital for cooperative societies and reefer vehicles will be developed.

It also gave its administrative approval for the Road Construction Department’s proposal for two high-level RCC bridge construction projects on NH-333A in Jamui district. The construction of a new bridge at Nariyana Ghat over Kiul River will be built at the 72nd km on Khaira-Sono Road for ₹93.82 crore. The construction of a new bridge at Mangobandar over Suknar River at the 80th km of Khaira-Sono Road for ₹55.96 crore.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that the Education Department has sent the requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) for the appointment of 32,388 teachers under TRE-4.
