Durand Cup | Mohammedan Sporting has it easy against Baghpat

Posted on July 27, 2026 By admin

Mohammedan Sporting began its 135th Durand Cup campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Baghpat FC of Banaras at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Monday.

Fardin Ali Molla gave the home side the lead in the 29th minute, helping Mohammedan take a solitary-goal advantage into halftime even as Baghpat put up a disciplined defence.

The Kolkata outfit stepped up the pressure after the break as substitute Lalremsanga Fanai doubled the lead in the 73rd minute following some attacking changes made by coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo. Israfil Dewan added a third in the 80th minute, before Fanai scored his second goal in the 84th, finishing off a long ball from goalkeeper Subhadip Pandit with an impressive solo run.

The result: Mohammedan Sporting 4 (Fardin Ali 29, Fanai 73 & 84, Israfil Dewan 80) bt Baghpat FC 0.
