Cyberabad Municipal Corporation removes 347 encroachments in ‘Walk Free’ enforcement drive

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Saturday (July 25) removed 347 encroachments from roads and footpaths across 14 identified stretches.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Saturday (July 25) removed 347 encroachments from roads and footpaths across 14 identified stretches during its weekly ‘Walk Free’ enforcement drive, covering a total distance of 18.8 km.

The civic body said the special drive was undertaken to reclaim public spaces, improve pedestrian accessibility and ensure safer, obstruction-free roads and footpaths across the Corporation’s jurisdiction.

According to the CMC, the highest number of encroachments were cleared in the Quthbullapur Zone, where officials removed 167 encroachments along a seven-kilometre stretch. Within the zone, 25 encroachments were removed in Chintal, 28 in Jeedimetla, 34 each in Kompally and Nizampet, 15 in Dundigal and 31 in Medchal.

In the Serilingampally Zone, the drive covered 8.3 km and resulted in the removal of 123 encroachments. Circle-wise, officials removed 15 encroachments in Patancheru, 27 in Ameenpur, 30 in Miyapur, 15 in Serilingampally and 36 in Madhapur.

The Kukatpally Zone recorded the removal of 93 encroachments along a 3.5-km stretch. The drive cleared 15 encroachments in Allwyn Colony, 20 in Kukatpally, 22 in Moosapet and 36 in Madhapur.

CMC Commissioner G. Srijana stated that the ‘Walk Free’ initiative is aimed at creating safe, accessible and obstruction-free public spaces for pedestrians while also ensuring smooth traffic movement across the Corporation limits.
