Food safety drive: six eateries inspected in Kochi

Food safety drive: six eateries inspected in Kochi

Posted on July 21, 2026 By admin

Six eateries in the city were inspected as part of a joint food safety drive by the Health department, Food Safety wing, Health wing of the Kochi Corporation, and the police on Tuesday (July 21).

Two eateries were fined for serving stale food and operating under unhygienic conditions. A fine of ₹12,000 was imposed on them.

Action is being initiated against those handling food in a manner that could lead to the spread of infectious diseases, District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr. R. Shahirsha said. All establishments involved in the preparation and handling of food and beverages must strictly adhere to the guidelines, he said in a communication.

Drinking water samples were collected from five establishments that did not produce water quality test reports and sent for analysis.

The drive is aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
