Andhra and Telangana direct tax collections grow 19.47% in first quarter of 2026-27

Income and direct tax collections in the combined Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region grew 19.47% in the first quarter of 2026-27, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (AP&TG) Suresh Battini said on Monday (July 20, 2026), after a review of revenue and taxpayer compliance across the zone.

Mr. Battini said the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region had consistently prioritised administrative efficiency and revenue growth. Administrative expansion had driven a steady rise in taxpayer participation and compliance across the region over recent fiscal years.

Region’s net collections at ₹41,568 crore

For the combined AP and Telangana region, gross collections for 2025-26 stood at ₹1,45,971.52 crore, resulting in a net income collection of ₹1,23,737.05 crore after refunds worth ₹22,234.47 crore, at a growth rate of 3.80%. In the current fiscal year 2026-27, up to July 17, 2026, the region recorded a net collection of ₹41,568.05 crore out of a gross total of ₹46,552.15 crore, a growth rate of 19.47%.

Andhra Pradesh grows 17%

In Andhra Pradesh, net collections for 2025-26 touched ₹22,542.32 crore at a 4.82% growth rate. In 2026-27, up to July 17, 2026, the State recorded a net collection of ₹6,607.53 crore out of gross collections of ₹9,043.54 crore, a growth rate of 17%.

Staff quarters opened

Earlier, Mr. Battini opened five Type-V quarters and eight Type-IV residential units for the department’s staff in Visakhapatnam.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration, Mr. Battini said the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region had consistently maintained infrastructure development and staff welfare as administrative priorities. He said the new residential units in Visakhapatnam would add to the existing infrastructure and improve the living standards of the local Income Tax staff.

Senior revenue officials attended, including Srinivas Danda, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Visakhapatnam; Sunita Billa, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Hyderabad; Botta Srinivas, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Visakhapatnam; and Sarish Irukulla, Commissioner of Income Tax (Admin and TPS), AP&TG, Hyderabad.
