Woman killed in road accident in K.K. Nagar

Posted on July 19, 2026 By admin

A 24-year-old woman was killed after being run over by a car in K.K. Nagar on Sunday. The Pondy Bazaar Traffic police have arrested the driver of the car and are investigating.

A senior officer of the city traffic police said the victim Hemalatha, a resident of Sriperumbudur, had come to her brother’s house in Nesapakkam. Hemalatha, her brother and her sister-in-law went to T. Nagar for shopping on two separate two-wheelers.

While proceeding on Anna Main Road towards Ashok Pillar, Hemalatha hit a two-wheeler, which was ahead of her. In the impact both Hemalatha and the other motorist fell on the road. Before Hemalatha could get up, a car ran over her, killing her on the spot. The other motorist escaped with minor injuries.

The Pondy Bazaar Traffic Investigation police, on being alerted, sent Hemalatha’s body to K.K. Nagar ESI Hospital and arrested the car driver Senthil Kumar, 52, who works as a manager in a private bank.
