Posted on July 19, 2026 By admin

A seven-member gang robbed cash and 14 sovereign jewels from two houses at knifepoint in the district on Saturday (July 19, 2026) night.

On Saturday (July 19, 2026) night, a seven-member gang came in on three bikes, covered their faces and tried to rob things from Chandran (65), a resident of Kondaiyampalli near Tammampatti, but Chandran raised the alarm, and the gang fled from the spot. Later the gang went to Vanikinaru and entered a house owned by retired education department staff Ganesan (67) and robbed four sovereign jewels and ₹10,000 at knifepoint and fled.

Later the gang went to Sithampattikuttai and robbed 10 sovereign jewels and ₹1 lakh cash from P. Malarvizhi’s (48) house at knifepoint and fled from the spot. These three incidents happened within an hour.

On information, Tammampatti police came to the houses and inquired. District Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Kuthalingam also came to the spot and inquired. Special teams were formed to nab the culprits.
