In a shocking incident, a faculty member died while he was on duty in the Tamil Nadu Government Polytechnic College in the city. Police said that Mathi Vasanthan, 51, of Tahsildar Nagar, was working as a faculty in the Mechanical department in the polytechnic.
While he was in the institute, he had swooned after which the students and other teachers had rushed him to the Government Rajaji Hospital.
The doctors, however, on examination, said that he had already died. A senior doctor in the Trauma Care said that the patient may have suffered a massive cardiac arrest.
Jaihindpuram police have registered a case following a complaint from the polytechnic authorities.
