Nizamabad MP Arvind inaugurates ₹9-crore Jankampet goods shed

Posted on July 9, 2026 By admin

Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri during the inauguration of the goods shed in Jankampet on Thursday.

Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri on Thursday inaugurated the newly developed ₹9-crore Jankampet goods shed in the presence of South Central Railway (SCR) officials, including Additional Divisional Railway Manager D.S. Rama Rao.

The facility is expected to boost freight transportation from the region and provide significant benefits to farmers, traders, merchants and the business community by enabling easier movement of goods to various parts of the country. Mr. Arvind said the goods shed would strengthen logistics infrastructure in the district and support economic activity by facilitating efficient transportation of agricultural and commercial products.

At present, the major commodities being loaded from the goods shed include rice, maize and jowar, while inbound consignments largely comprise fertilisers and cement. He noted that there is considerable potential for increasing freight handling capacity and expanding the range of commodities transported through the facility in the future.

The MP also highlighted several railway development projects being taken up in the region. These include the redevelopment of Nizamabad railway station at a cost of ₹58 crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), implementation of Kavach 4.0 safety systems, yard remodelling works and the construction of three road overbridges (RoBs) in the Nizamabad parliamentary constituency.

SCR Chief Public Relations Officer A. Sridhar said the goods shed has been equipped with modern infrastructure, including loading platforms, adequate lighting and an approach road to facilitate seamless freight operations, said a press release.

He added that construction of rooms for labourers and merchants is progressing rapidly and will further improve facilities at the goods shed.

According to a press release, the new facility is expected to enhance freight movement in the region, improve market access for agricultural produce and contribute to the overall growth of trade and commerce in and around Nizamabad.
